I doubt it. They claim to have new game modes that the emblems show are obviously CoD artstyle and why would Battlefield try to make a game like PayDay as machinima states? If it is true I'll be giving up on life. I've waited too long for BFBC3. Although the plans that Visceral will make it leads me to think they will now be producing multiple Battlefield games from multiple devs. Hardline sounds like if it is real it will be used for money to make the other more rewarding Battlefield by DICE.

In less than two weeks time EA conference at E3 will be the first glimpse into the new game.

I can already hear myself singing "..... the day, the game just died. Die die, EA why won't you die" to the tune of American pie.

Just don't pre-order it. Wait and see how it is, we keep pre-ordering this shit, we'll get BF4 again. Which is an embarrassment. Still.

The game is now confirmed.

We can keep a single thread until we have more information? Or separate sub-forum?

Official press release below :

================================================== ======================

On behalf of everyone at EA and Visceral Games, I?m fired up to confirm our next project ? Battlefield Hardline. This is a brand new series in the Battlefield franchise, set against the backdrop of a genre we all love ? the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals.

Several years ago, I was at an internal EA meeting in Barcelona with creative leaders from across the company. It was here I met Karl Magnus Troedsson, the GM of DICE, for the first time, and we immediately began talking about games. I?ve always loved Battlefield and KM was a huge fan of Dead Space, so we started talking about different ways we could work together, different ways we could take Battlefield and action games in a new direction. And from that point, the project that would become Battlefield Hardline was born.

I wish I could tell you more now ? more about the ways we are adding new twists and turns to the foundation of Battlefield multiplayer, more about how we?re bringing our strengths at Visceral to single player. But the wait won?t be too long ? we?re looking forward to sharing more with you on June 9.

Stay tuned for more information about Battlefield Hardline at E3 and sign up for updates at our web site www.battlefield.com/hardline (http://www.battlefield.com/hardline).

Thanks,
Steve Papoutsis
General Manager, Visceral Games
Executive Producer, Battlefield Hardline

My impression is is they are leveraging the battlefield "brand" as opposed to this being considered the next battlefield. Just like they opened a new Tide dry cleaners near me with the same logo as the detergent. It creates built in buzz and recognition for a new IP / title.

I'm sure it uses the battlefield / frostbite engine. I just don't see this as the "next" battlefield. That doesn't mean it won't be fun. It might be great.

Regardless of whether the new game is good or not, it will never be worthy of the Battlefield title. But then again, we had Close Quarters DLC + Metro + Locker, so this was inevitable.

Plus they need to dent COD sales every year.

I feel as a community we can make a stand to prevent another BF4 by holding out and waiting until this game is released to purchase.

It's certainly not looking like a BF game in the sense of large vehicle based conquest multiplayer maps. That being said, the thing I miss from BF4 right now are maps like Sienne Crossing and Grand Bazzar - a balance of infantry, limited armored vehicle, no air. As long as they keep the complex gun/bullet trajectory mechanics from current BF games, this might be fun for those of us that play more infantry focused game modes. We'll see, I'm not jumping on the hate train just yet - this does nothing to water down the next main BF5 release that will come in 2015/16.

I would like to see someone(like Ketz) put up a petition on Causes for the correction of BF4 and a refusal to make any future purchases from the BF genre, until said changes are made. I will not buy anymore games in the BF series. It would be nice if we could compile a list of suggested/needed changes so that we could get something rolling. We can gain support easily, by sending a link to all of our BL friends and requesting them to do the same. Just a thought.

They're pulling a Activision move, it's going to be Battlefield 4 to Battlefield 5, which will be the same type of game, and then Battlefield: Hardline to Hardline two, each releasing every year. So this year is Hardline, next year is Battlefield 5, year after that is hardline 2. Know what I'm saying? It's the SAME thing CoD is going. One year is CoD MW3, Next year is Black Ops 2, Next year is Ghosts. I know those games have released at different times, it's just an example of release alternating.

I would definitely be game for that. Where do I sign up?

Xfactor played hardline and discusses a bit about it during this video beginning around 1:20:

He may just be a shill for EA, but the part about it being infantry based has peaked my interest. I know I'll end up trying it.

Also, he'll be releasing footage of him playing Hardline on June 9.

It's promising that they are asking for feedback from the community and altering the game multiple times before bringing it to the public. Cool info.

I honestly don't think it will go this way. The Battlefield series has always tried hard to distance itself from CoD. I think we will get Hardline, then *crosses fingers* Bad Company 3, then Battlefield 5 somewhere down the road. Despite all the shit Dice gets, I really do think they care, I don't think they are willing to let their baby become the shit heap CoD has become.

Perhaps this is just a change of pace to give people something different to play, while Dice creates their magnum opus.
